Notes :
Introduced following the death of King George V, the design of the King George VI one pound note remained unchanged throughout his reign, with only the signatories being modified. The first signature combination – Sheehan/McFarlane – was printed in green, while the remaining combinations until 1953 were printed in black.

For the first time, the letter ’O’ was used as a serial number prefix on this note.
